Bilal qualified in Dentistry from the University of Glasgow, and Medicine from the University of Manchester. During that time he founded and organised the:

- Manchester Maxillofacial Surgery Symposium*
- British Medical Dental Careers Fair**

Bilal has gained several postgraduate qualifications and is committed to continual professional development. He has gained Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons (MFDS) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, and Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties (MJDF) from the Royal College of Surgeons, England.

Bilal has also been involved with the Faculty of General Dental Practice (FGDP) in Scotland, which involves teaching and preparing postgraduate dentists to sit the MJDF examination.

Following his graduation, Bilal underwent his Vocational Training with the prestigious London Deanery. This year was spent in attending numerous courses in all aspects of dentistry from world renowned clinicians in the UK. He also attended a number of conferences around the UK and internationally, including the Chicago Midwinter Conference in the United States.

Bilal underwent further training within the field of Oral surgery at the Glasgow Dental Hospital and School, which also involved teaching dental undergraduates. He has held a post as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Southern General Hospital caring for patients in Oncology, Deformity and Trauma

He is currently a Specialty Doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, Royal Bolton Hospital, North Cumberland Infirmary and Burnley General Hospital. His career aspirations are to further acquire skills and train within Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

The aim of Manchester Maxillofacial Surgery Symposium is to train surgeons with the latest based evidence for procedures involving the head and neck area. Further information can be found on www.mmss.org.uk.
